Knitting: Cast-On

Cast-On is the foundation step of any knitting project — it’s how you get your first row of loops (stitches) onto the needle before you begin knitting.

In other words, casting on creates the starting edge of your fabric and sets the number of stitches you’ll work with for the rest of the project.
